ACHE Offering Credits for MHA Safety & Quality Symposium

The Mid-Michigan and Great Lakes Chapters of the ACHE partnered with the Michigan Health & Hospital Association to offer ACHE credits for the MHA Patient Safety & Quality Symposium Sept. 18 and 19 at the Ann Arbor Marriott Ypsilanti at Eagle Crest. MHA is authorized to award up to 8.5 hours of pre-approved ACHE Qualified Education credit for the symposium toward advancement, or recertification, in the American College of Healthcare Executives, and ACHE is awarding 1.0 face-to-face credit for a panel session, Assessing and Understanding Worker Safety and Violence in the Workplace, which will outline the sources of injury in healthcare and examine how high-reliability practices can be incorporated to promote safety and quality. Panelists include Tom Peterson, MD, vice president, Quality & Safety, and John Bolde, director, Safety & Security, Munson Healthcare, and Robert Piccinini, DO, Associates in Psychiatry PC.

Other content areas include creating a sustainable safety culture and combating burnout. Nationally recognized speakers include Tejal Gandhi, MD, president, National Patient Safety Foundation, Boston; Bryan Sexton, PhD, director of the Patient Safety Center, Duke University Health System, Durham, NC; and Rana Awdish, MD, director of the Pulmonary Hypertension Program and critical care medicine at Henry Ford Hospital, Detroit.

Registration is open and the event is expected to draw more than 250 healthcare executives, business leaders, clinical teams, quality and safety professionals, and patient and family advocates.
